Having seen a meteoric rise in just a few short years, Virgil Abloh is now one of the most instantly recognisable names in fashion. His work with Off-White™, especially ‘The Ten’ with Nike, enabled him to take one of the most lucrative jobs in fashion after Kim Jones departure as Creative Director for Louis Vuitton Menswear. For Abloh’s fourth show with the French fashion house, the invite is something spectacular.
Abloh took to Instagram to reveal the invitation to the show “a literal piece of time” as he described it. “Heaven on Earth” is the title for the upcoming Fall/Winter 2020 Louis Vuitton show; a theme that has not yet been explored by the Chicago born designer.
A monochromatic grey clock features the LV branding which replaces the numbers. This simple design is already causing waves in the community, but there is something unusual about the clock itself. “The clock tho, i re-wired it to spin backwards. there’s also to that metaphor in that but also, as they say “a broke clock is right twice a day…” Abloh explained.
Just 1,200 of these clocks exist, with a custom marked cardboard box housing the luxurious invitation. All we know is that we want one (or 12).
