The Superstar turns 50 this year and adidas is celebrating in a big way. As one of the most iconic silhouettes of all time, the Superstar was one of the first basketball sneakers that made a huge impact on street culture. For over half a century, the shoe has remained a favourite for Pharrell Williams, Run DMC and many more. Now, adidas is looking at its own creatives to put their spin on the silhouette, with Jonah Hill being one of them.
An adidas advocate for a number of years, Jonah Hill has long supported models like the Samba. Earlier this year, adidas announced that Hill would be launching his own Superstar later in 2020. Thankfully, the long wait is almost over. According to rumours, the Jonah Hill x adidas Superstar will launch at select retailers in July.
The Superstar features some unique details, such as chunky embossed stripes on a crisp white leather base. By pairing the white leather with an off white shell toe and midsole, this shoe is given a vintage look. A debossed tongue is contrasted by the set of thick white laces complete with a pinstripe through the centre. The stitched heel, complete with “JH” and a large “Superstar” on the side gives this shoe some character.
Whilst no official date has been confirmed, July is set to be the month of release. Costing around €140, this adidas Superstar is on the more expensive side. However, given the hype around the release, you can expect this price to climb on the resale market. Check out the images below and let us know if you’ll cop these adidas sneakers.
