JJJJound has built its reputation on doing more with less. No crazy colourways. No over-the-top branding. Just carefully considered colour palettes, premium materials, and timeless design. For its latest collaboration with New Balance, the Montreal studio continues that philosophy with the all-new 740N ‘Taupe’, delivering one of the cleanest runners of 2026.
While previous JJJJound collaborations have focused on heritage favourites like the 99X series, this project shifts attention to the New Balance 740N, a modern reinterpretation of an early-2000s running silhouette. Rather than simply applying muted colours to an existing model, JJJJound has helped introduce a refreshed "N" version of the the popular 740 runner, featuring a lightweight no-sew upper that gives the sneaker a more streamlined, technical aesthetic.
Although many have referred to the colourway as 'Taupe', JJJJound describes the palette as a blend of warm beiges, taupes and off-whites, creating a soft neutral base inspired by classic suede runners we’ve seen from the label in the past. Deep navy detailing around the overlays, eyelets and inner lining adds contrast, while subtle hits of red on the tongue branding and heel provide just enough colour without disrupting the minimalist design. And let’s not forget the blacked-out ‘N’ logos. The whole thing is understated, refined, and unmistakably JJJJound.
The materials also mark a departure from the usual New Balance x JJJJound collabs. Instead of layered suede overlays, the 740N utilises breathable engineered mesh with welded synthetic panels, giving the shoe a cleaner profile while maintaining the comfort and performance DNA of the original. Underfoot, New Balance's proven ABZORB midsole provides lightweight cushioning, making the 740N as wearable as it is stylish.
The New Balance x JJJJound 740N ‘Taupe’ launches via JJJJound on 30 July 2026, with a wider New Balance release expected to follow. Demand is sure to be high, so make sure you add it to your wishlisht on KLEKT in case you miss out on the retail release.
