The Air Jordan 5 has been on top form this year. Kicking things off with the Reimagined Black Metallic and following up with retros of the OG ‘Grape‘ and ‘Black Tongue‘ colourways, 2025’s been a good year for the model. Now, it’s getting a much-needed collaborative boost, courtesy of Awake NY.
Founded by former Supreme brand director Angelo Baque, Awake NY has been making waves for a while now. They didn’t just collaborate with ASICS; they’re partly responsible for the hugely popular GEL-NYC model. Last year, Awake made their debut Air Jordan collaboration, featuring two Air Ship colourways with unique snakeskin details. Following the Air Ship, Awake is moving on to one of Jordan’s most iconic models, the AJ5.
Awake’s take on the ’90s classic comes in two colourways, ‘Racer Blue‘ and ‘Pink Ice‘. Both colourways come in premium tumbled leather uppers with contrast stitching along each panel. The standout feature on both pairs is the cursive ‘A’ cutouts on the plastic mesh vents on the sides. Awake NY branding is also embroidered on the reflective silver tongues, with alternating ‘NY’ and ‘23’ details on the right and left shoe.
The pink pair is limited to 7,000 pairs and will remain exclusive to Awake NY. The ‘Racer Blue‘, on the other hand, will be getting a worldwide release on the 28th of August. If you miss out on retail, be sure to check for listings on the KLEKT app.
