Over the past few months, the Nike SB Dunk Low has come back with a bang. Originally debuted in 2002, the Nike SB Dunk was Nike’s third foray into the world of skateboarding. Almost 20 years later, the silhouette has remained a firm favourite of older sneakerheads, and for good reason. With Ben & Jerry’s, Travis Scott and Strangelove Skateboards all putting their spin on the SB Dunk, it’s already been an exciting start to 2020. Now, The Grateful Dead is getting their turn.
Earlier this month, a fur laden Nike SB Dunk appeared online. Many expected it to be a collaboration, with The Grateful Dead eventually being the band that was eventually confirmed. Referencing the Grateful Dead Volume 1 (Bear’s Choice) album, the sneaker was an ode to the five bears that made up the artwork. We now have a closer look a the upcoming “Yellow Bear” Nike SB Dunk Low which is dropping later this year.
Just like the aforementioned green pair, the Yellow features all of the same unique details. A fuzzy suede is contrasted against a fluffy material on the toe, side panels and ankle. Even the Swoosh has been given custom treatment, with a jagged shape following the iconic motif the whole way around. Thick SB laces can be spotted too, with a co-branded tongue tag adding to this collaboration. Hidden details like zip-up tongue, a custom insole and heel tab have also been used.
Estimated to cost €110, the Grateful Dead x Nike SB Dunk Low will be one of this year’s hottest launches. Check out the images below and let us know if you’ll cop.
