When Matthew M. Williams and Nike first began teasing a potential sneaker earlier this year, fashion fans around the world began to take notice. As the founder and director of 1017 ALYX 9SM, as well as the Creative Director of both Givenchy women’s and men’s, Williams prominence in the world of fashion is unprecedented. Thankfully, after several months of waiting, Williams has given us a release date for the upcoming shoe.
After first being previewed at the Nike Future Sport Forum back in February, Williams design was supposed to drop during the Tokyo Olympics. However, it was not to be. Dubbed the Nike MMW Zoom 4, the sneaker is certainly going to make a statement in the footwear world, thanks to its unusual silhouette. Serving as a modern twist on traditional athletic shoes, the Nike MMW Zoom 4 is nothing like anything we’ve ever seen before.
Launching in the “Bone White” colourway initially, the hybrid Nike silhouette is undoubtedly bold. Constructed in a mesh upper and accented with heat-welded tape, the silver-tone accents flow directly through the midsection. Hidden branding can be spotted on the midfoot, lying underneath the overlays. The edgy aesthetic of this sneaker is evident on this sneaker, seen through the exaggerated toebox and heel, with the sharp angles taking pride of place.
As for now, the Nike MMW Zoom 4 is scheduled to release on December 21st for a pretty substantial €450. If you like the look of them, they’ll be listed at the usual Tier 0 retailers as well as on Nike. Check out the images below and let us know if you’ll cop.
