It’s been a big year for New Balance, even though we’re barely two months in. Having announced the return of the 1300JP and collaborating with a whole host of big names, the Boston shoemaker is starting 2020 off right. One of those collaborators is Chicago-based designer, Joe Freshgoods. Having given fans a sneak preview of the shoe just weeks ago, New Balance has unveiled official images of two collaborative sneakers.
Dubbed “No Emotions Are Emotions”, Don’t Be Mad Joe Freshgoods has reimagined both an old and new sneaker from NB. Having signed Kawhi Leonard back in 2018, New Balance gave the Los Angeles Clippers start his own signature sneaker. Dubbed the OMN1S, Joe Freshgoods has placed his signature touches on the athletic shoe.
The OMN1S is constructed in a knitted pink and black upper. A pattern of blank faces can be found across the entire sneaker; with a black sock and ankle liner creating a sense of balance. A black strap can be found across the shoe which bares the “No Emotions Are Emotions” text. The classic “N” logo uses two shades of pink, with pink laces and a pink midsole rounding the upper off. A semi-translucent sole show the same blank faces have been applied underneath, a subtle detail that finishes this shoe off well.
However, the star of the show is undoubtedly the 992. Merging together premium materials such as pigskin suede and familiar mesh, Joe Freshgoods has nailed this sneaker. Contrasting shades of red, pink and beige make this shoe as eye-catching as it is well made. A monochromatic midsole helps to break the colour up but does not detract from the shoe aesthetics. Subtle “DBM” branding can be spotted on the tongue, a knowing nod to this shoe creator.
As an All-Star Weekend exclusive, you’re going to have to be in Chicago to get your hands on these. However, all hope is not lost. Head back to KLEKT where we’ll have them on the secondary market.
