Tokyo 2020 is set to be one of the most memorable Olympic games in history. The introduction of sports like skateboarding, karate and sport climbing is already making this Olympics one of the most forward-thinking in history. As you would expect, the worlds biggest brands also have some exciting things in store; with Nike unveiling a star-studded collaborative lineup of sneakers to drop throughout the games.

With this being one of the most-watched sporting competitions on the planet, Nike has pulled out the big guns. Off-White™, Ambush, Matthew M Williams and sacai all unveiled collaborative sneakers and apparel with the Swoosh yesterday. As expected, each designer put their signature touches, as well as new designs, throughout.

Kicking things off with Off-White™, Virgil Abloh has created a brand new sneaker with Nike. A chunky skate silhouette combines black and green uppers, with a chunky midsole with visible air. The familiar medial text and zip tie makes an appearance, with a new “NIKE OFF” tongue tag taking pride of place. Having debuted on the runway last month, sacai’s remake of the Vaporfly was also present. Following the success of the LDWaffle, this is one to watch out for.

Perhaps the most eye-catching silhouette comes from Matthew M Williams. The ALYX Studios founder and designer has created a sneaker that wouldn’t look out of place in 3020 let alone 2020. Sleek mesh material is housed within a large frame and features a springboard sole; the first time that Nike has used this technology on a retail sneaker.

Undercover is using its familiar Nike Zoom Fly sneaker, merging semi-translucent materials with a blue and black overlay. Finally, Yoon of Ambush has reworked the classic Air Force 1. The bright pink sneaker features an extended Swoosh, elongated tongue and heel cup.

Each designer is also releasing apparel to coincide with the drop; creating luxury athletic wear that will last long in the memory after Tokyo 2020 finishes.
