Few models in sneakers are as understated as the New Balance 2002. Though the silhouette was originally released in 2010, it flew under the radar for many at the time. However, with the buzz around dad and technical sneakers still a big trend in sneakers this year, it looks as though the tides could be changing for the better. After a 10-year hiatus, it looks like the New Balance 2002 is finally going to make a return, but with a difference.
Now named the New Balance 2002R, the sneaker is an updated take on the OG. Whilst the silhouette has remained largely similar to the original, subtle differences have been made that separate this from its muse. First of all, premium leather and nubuck has been used, with the traditional mesh allowing for breathability. The midsole features both ABZORB and N-ergy technology, the sneaker is stylish and comfortable. Dropping in two colourways to start, “Grey” and “Black,” the diverse options are both as good as each other.
If you like the look of the upcoming New Balance 2002R, then keep your eyes peeled. The shoes are scheduled to release later this month, though there’s no confirmed release date just yet.
