La moda japonesa siempre ha tenido figuras clave que han ayudado a definir el estilo único del país. Marcas como A BATHING APE,Mastermind y el diseño de fragmentos crearon la base para la moda japonesa a principios de los años 90. Otra de esas figuras influyentes en la moda japonesa es WTAPS. Fundada por Tetsu Nishiyama en 1993, WTAPS se ha hecho conocida por sus colaboraciones de mezclilla e inteligente zapatillas de mezclilla. Bueno, parece que New Balance está a punto de recibir el tratamiento WTAPS.
Presentado en la página de Instagram de WTAPS, ahora tenemos nuestro primer vistazo a una próxima colaboración New Balance 992. Hablando en un video inteligentemente presentado, Nishiyama-san explica que el proceso detrás de la colaboración fue mantener las cosas lo más básicas posible. “Parece bastante sencillo para las marcas colaborar así, pero en realidad es difícil”. Desde el primer vistazo de la zapatilla,es seguro decir que el equipo de WTAPS ha hecho justo eso.
A premium take on the 992, WTAPS has combined khaki suede and mesh throughout most of the upper. Grey accents on the side panels and the tongue also help to keep the neutrality of this classic dad sneaker. The split midsole features white and khaki, with a touch of orange towards the toe just to make things pop. However, the real focus on this sneaker is the balance of both brands logos.
“Making the most of each other’s branding…like this was the final goal so I hope that I created the best possible result” Nishiyama-san explains. Of course, the best possible result has created this perfect 992. Although there is no information on a release date, given the timing and the unveiling of this sneaker, you can expect it to release soon.
