Although news of the Patta x New Balance 991 broke over the weekend, many were waiting to see more lifestyle images before making up their mind. Celebrating the 991s 20th anniversary, Patta’s take on one of New Balance’s most iconic silhouettes may be one of our favourite collaborations so far this year. As always, Patta has also put together a lookbook to coincide with the release. It’s safe to say that this is already looking like a must cop.
The New Balance 991 was the first from the 99x series to utilise an ABZORB window at the forefoot and beneath the heel. Technologically way ahead of its time, the New Balance 991 first dropped in 2001 and was well received by runners and dads alike. Recognising the importance of the 991, New Balance recruited Patta to create a loving ode to this iconic runner.
Constructed in the familiar premium suede and mesh, Patta has opted for a tonal approach to this New Balance collaboration. Soft Peach and Grey hues work alongside Cork and Light Petrol accents to give the shoe a sleek edge. The classic “N” motif takes pride of place on the midsection and is dressed in the synonymous grey made famous by New Balance. An embroidered “Patta” adorns the rear panel, sitting perfectly alongside the “991” on the heel. Using the same ABZORB midsole, these are a fitting tribute to the OG.
The Patta x New Balance 991 will drop exclusively on Patta on Friday 22nd. Costing €220, these are not cheap but will definitely be worth it. Check out the lookbook and official images below and let us know if you’ll cop these New Balance sneakers.
