Today, we’re sitting down with one of France’s most well-respected sneaker collectors @bisso97120 for the latest instalment in our 5Qs and 5As interview series. After falling in love with sneakers from a young age, Bisso quickly found himself wanting more and more branded pairs. Since moving to France, Bisso has been able to acquire some of the rarest sneakers on the planet, adding to one of the most diverse collections we’ve seen in a long time.
For today’s interview, we’ll be digging into the pairs that got Bisso interested in sneakers as well as what are some of the favourites pairs in his collection. As you can imagine, Bisso has a number of high heat pairs that we’re sure you’ll know all about, as well as some rarer gems you might not know of. Make sure you check out Bisso’s Instagram too where there will be a special promo for his followers this weekend on KLEKT. Without further delay, let’s kick this interview off!
Hi Bisso, it’s great to have you here. Can you please introduce yourself?
Hello KLEKT. My name is Fabrice, but most people know me by the nickname Bisso (or @bisso97120 on Instagram). I am from Guadeloupe, an island located in the Caribbean but I now live in Toulouse, a lovely city in the south of France. My passions include sport, music, fashion food and sneakers.
What got you interested in collecting sneakers?
For me, it all started with the adidas Americana. When I was around ten years old, I remember watching a hip-hop show on TV and saw a dancer spinning on his head. On his feet he had a pair of adidas Americana. Naturally, I was amazed and quickly wanted to be like him, so I had to have the pair of shoes he was wearing. I remember being extremely proud when I eventually got that pair.
Unfortunately, this was my last branded pair for years. When I started to earn my own money I really started getting pairs that I wanted, which would have been around 1996. I would say that my collecting has grown a lot since 2013 to the point where my collection is today.
What was the last pair of sneakers you bought?
The Medicom Toy x Nike SB Dunk Low “BE@RBRICK”. It’s funny how I got them really. It must’ve been around 1:00am in the morning and just before going to bed, I decided to check the SNKRS App for the releases the next day. When I opened the app, I got a notification telling me that I had received early access in order to buy the pair. I’m a huge fan of Bearbricks anyway, so buying this sneaker was a no brainer for me. The simplicity of the black upper with the “@“ on the tongue convinced me to cop.
We’ve seen that you have a lot of variety in your sneaker collection, with no real favourite brand. Do you have a favourite sneaker brand and, if so, why?
If I take a closer look at my collection, the majority of shoes are by Nike, Jordan or ASICS. My tastes are very diverse and varied. I do not restrict myself to one brand but to the beauty of the sneaker itself. Also, the outfit they go with is very important to me, so I tend to associate certain sneakers with certain outfits.
Can you tell us the top five pairs in your collection?
My top five is constantly changing according to my mood or my desires. Currently, I would say my top five are:
- Nike Air Yeezy 1 “Net”
- Hanon x ASICS Gel Lyte 3 “Wildcats”
- Air Jordan 4 “Bred”
- Travis Scott x Nike SB Dunk Low
- Nike Air Force 1 “West-Indies”
