Balenciaga has once again caused a stir online with their new distressed shoes, which are priced at €1450. The shoes are a limited edition of their new, vintage-inspired Paris Sneaker (€495). The limited editions take the form of your typical canvas sneaker, with what looks like decades of beaten into them.
The fashion giant is known for drawing from unique sources of inspiration, from supermarkets to presidential campaigns. This eclectic approach is no doubt visually interesting, but for some, it might border on parody.
It wasn’t long ago that Balenciaga was the subject of a few laughs on Twitter for their Zen shoes, which bore a striking resemblance to a few Sports Direct staples.
On the other hand, when it comes to sneakers, their Triple S contributed to the rise of the dad shoe trend that dominated the landscape for years despite some initially dismissing it as an ironic fad. So in the end, who’s to say.
The Paris Sneaker collection dropped on Balenciaga’s site on 9th May. As always, stay tuned to KLEKTIVE for more news check out Balenciaga on KLEKT.
