Patta and Nike have had an incredible run recently, with their colourful leather Air Max 1s being one of the hottest collaborations of the 2020s. In 2024, the Dutch label is looking to take things to the next level, presenting the Air Huarache as you’ve never seen before.
This new Air Huarache Plus features a grey neoprene upper with a vibrant pink pattern. The upper also features white leather overlays, with more strong hits of pink on the unique cross-system. The tongue of the neoprene bootie shows off an ‘Air Huarache by Patta’, complete with the Patta Panther. The biggest switch-up comes underneath, with the original tooling being swapped out for the Air Zoom Pegasus 40 sole.
This doesn’t just look like the next big Patta collab, but also part of a larger push for the Huarache in 2024. Another key player in this push is Corteiz. After the London label made their mark in 2023 with their memorable Air Max 95 releases, rumour has it that they’re looking to the Air Trainer Huarache for their next project. Clint himself has reportedly shot down these rumours, but we’ll wait and see.
2023 also saw the release of a new GR variant, the Huarache Runner, which added more of a traditional retro runner aesthetic in line with current trends. However, 2024 will be a big year for the beloved, colourful OG 90s models if these collaborations are anything to go by.
