Welcome back to Throwback Thursdays, where we take a look back at moments in KLEKT’s history. Today, we’re looking at our “True” campaign that we launched back in 2015.

As you probably already know, authenticity is key to KLEKT and our mission as a marketplace for legit sneakers. The campaign focused on three distinct styles, True Vintage, True Classic, and True Hype, with our model dressed in different eras of streetwear from the 80s, 90s, and the 2010s.

This campaign was printed in Sneakers Magazine, and given out as stickers during our conventions. The message was being spread, but we took things a step further with our True Mixtapes. Streetwear and Hip-Hop have long been intertwined, so we put out three mixtapes capturing the sounds of these distinct eras.

The tapes were put together by our friend, Hade, featuring announcers shouting out our old domain, K’LEKT.in. The True Vintage Mixtape starts things off in the 80s with the Boom Bap sounds of Run DMC and KRS-One to name a few. We then move down to the 90s with the True Classic sounds from artists like Nas, Ice Cube, and Sean Price. Then we get to the Hype era of the 2010s, with hits from Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, and Future.

Authentic sneakers and authentic vibes, the True campaign truly captures KLEKT’s identity. For more looks back on KLEKT history, stay tuned to KLEKTIVE for more Throwback Thursdays.
