The results speak for themselves, and you’ve all been loving our ‘Top 5 Picks’ blog series! So in honour of International Women’s Day 2022, we’ve thought we would mix things up a little (Not too much though…). We’ve reached out to our fantastic European network of sneakerheads that make up ‘Team KLEKT’, more specifically the wonderful women in that community and asked them if they wouldn’t mind sharing with us the sneakers that made them the people they are today. The sneakers that first sparked that flame of obsession, the sneakers that built the foundation of their collections, the ones that gave them that all-important ‘in’ into the wonderful world of sneakers.

adidas Ultra Boost Triple White 1.0 

My brother gifted me my first pair of Ultra Boost and this was also the time when the Ultra Boost/boost vibes era was at its peak. I would always take sneaker shots of them and whenever I wore them, they were always so comfortable. They were definitely my statement piece for my overall outfit. 

Air Jordan 1 Game Royal High

This pair is special to me because once I finally got a job and was able to afford sneakers, the minute I got my first paycheck I bought the Jordan 1 Royal. This then became the start of me collecting Jordan 1’s. 

Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Cream White

Back in 2017, I copped my first ever Yeezys. At the time it was releasing on the website I was also going on holiday the same day with a sore throat. We had to leave the house in 10 minutes and I was still waiting for it to drop on the website on my laptop. Eventually, I managed to get through the waiting line and I copped so fast that I screamed so loud with excitement, my sore throat went away. 

It was definitely a memorable moment because of all the rush. 

Air Jordan 1 High Satin Shattered Backboard

This pair means a lot to me because I had gotten so many L’s when this released. They were just a NEED in my collection. I even tried to use the US footlocker website but I had no luck. Day after release, I kept checking online if anyone was selling it. A week later, I see that someone was selling it on a bid and I managed to buy it for a steal. 

From opening the box and getting a good feel of the materials to trying it on, it just felt special. 

Nike Air Force 1 Wheat

I was at a sneaker store at the time and I saw this pair on the shelf. I immediately fell in love with the wheat colourway and the fact it was a suede material. I remember sending a photo of it to my brother at the time and I left the store. 

A month after, it was my birthday and my brother actually got me the shoes. I was buzzed, I wore them non-stop.
