Please tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my Air Max story. My name is Klaudia, I’m a 28-year-old female sneaker collector from Poland. I’m happy to call myself a member of Team KLEKT!
When did you first get into sneaker collecting?
I don’t remember the exact year or even a specific moment when it all started but I’ve been into this for a long time now. I’m not even sure what my first sneaker purchase was. What I do remember is that I was already into it when Nike was celebrating the Air Force 1’s 25th anniversary, so around 2007. It was a golden era for AF1’s and Dunks, the latter of which we are seeing again. I didn’t start strong, like most sneakerheads, so my collection really started growing as time went by.
How long have you been collecting Air Max?
I’m not sure how long it’s been now! I’m pretty sure I bought my first pair of Air Max 90s around 10 years ago which might have been the starting moment for me.
What about the Air Max line is special to you?
Tha’s not an easy question because it’s not just one thing, it’s everything! The story and designs behind them, Tinker Hatfield’s vision, the visible air unit and finally, the diversity. Every model is different and we get almost everything we can imagine. From mild silhouettes to sharp ones, there’s something for everyone. That’s the beauty of the Air Max line.
What is your favorite Air Max model?
That’s an easy one, it’s the Air Max 1.
What makes a pair of Air Max special to you?
Firstly, it has to have a story. Collaborations, both old and new, bring you a piece of someone’s mind. From the designer’s idea to the final result. Retros, on the other hand, take you back in time and I have always been a sucker for OG releases. There’s always something which makes it tempting and so unique.
How many pairs of Air Max do you think you own?
Around 31 pairs. One for each day of Air Max Month!
What’s one Air Max model or colorway that you’d like to see a retro of?
I have always wished for an Air Max 360 retro and we almost got it. However, we got a 360 upper on a Vapormax sole. I’m still waiting for the original to return.
This is going to be hard but if you had to pick a top three, what would they be?
- Nike Air Max 1 x atmos “Safari”
- Nike Air Max 1 x Patta “Corduroy“
- Nike Air Max 1 x Patta “Lucky Green”
It wasn’t that hard to pick, to be honest!
What have been some of the hardest pairs for you to track down?
My top three pairs from the previous question and my Air Max 95 Parra “Running Man”. I have had some struggles with some new releases as well. But it’s nothing compared to a hunt for some old gems. Especially in a small size. It’s near to impossible in some cases and you just get what the market gives you.
What are some pairs that you are still on the hunt for?
The list is too long but its a lot of the Patta Air Max 1s! From the top of my head: Air Max 1 Blue Ribbon Sports, Air Max 1 Patta “Purple Denim”, Air Max 1 Patta “Chlorophyll”, Air Max 1 Patta “Cherrywood”.
What is on your feet right now?
I’m writing this from my home, so I’m not gonna lie…Nike slides.
What does Air Max mean to you?
It means a lot of different things to me. It’s not that shoes are the most important thing in my life, but they have a part in it. I’ve always been into Nike and the Air Max line has a special place in my heart. So if someone made me choose one shoe that I would have to wear for the rest of my life, it would be easy: the Air Max 1.
