Late last year, Hiroshi Fujiwara took to ComplexCon with a bag of exclusive fragment design x Nike samples. Fujiwara has kept the samples locked away, rarely sharing detailed images. Right up until yesterday, when the man himself revealed the fragment design x Nike Air Max 1.
Fans were quick to notice the shoes unusual construction. The combination of premium suede and leather upper ins contrasted by an ACG style lacing system. Its neutral grey and black colour blocking showed off fragments desire to keep things simple. A black pull tab and miniature Swooshes were the only forms of branding, though the silhouette needs no introduction. Other noticeable details to include the style code on the midsole and thick rope laces.
It was, however, the insole that really drew attention to the collaboration. On the inside, a fragment design lightning bolt can be seen next to a “The Ten” stamp. Fujiwara revealed that he was in fact in competition with Virgil Abloh to design “The Ten.” In his own words, Fujiwara explained that “he won, I lost…What [Abloh] did was beautiful so I am not surprised that Nike picked his designs.” Since then, there have been very few images released.
With this most likely being the only pair in existence, it’ll be a long time before these ever see a release. Check out the images below and let us know if you’d cop a fragment design x Nike “The Ten.”
