When adidas announced that it would be partnering with Beyonce, the sneaker community was quite surprised. The 38-year-old singer, who has won an incredible 23 Grammy awards, launched her Ivy Park label in 2014 and it has since become a staple in the athleisure space. Since the news of the collaboration broke in April last year, fans have been patiently waiting for a closer look at what the two global brands have in store. Now, we have a closer look.
Beyonce and adidas have clearly taken some time to ensure that the debut collection is a perfect combination of style and functionality. Signature staple pieces from adidas have been given the Ivy Park twist, with a maroon and orange colour palette, similar to the Yeezy Calabasas pants, taking pride of place throughout most of the collection.
Classic adidas pieces such as the Three Stripe tracksuit have been given a Beyonce update; combining the singer’s desire for comfort with a sleek design. Other notable pieces include a monochromatic tracksuit as well as accessories such as hats, scarves and more.
The real focus, however, is definitely the sneakers. When images surfaced last month of a modified adidas Samba sneaker, the community was interested in what was to come. From the collection video, we can see that Ivy Park is remixing two of adidas’ most popular silhouettes; the Nite Jogger and the Ultra Boost.
Whilst no official prices have yet been released for the products, adidas and Beyonce have both confirmed that the release date will be schedule for January 18th.
