Daniel Arsham recently arrived in France to showcase his exhibition titled “Paris, 3020.” The contemporary artist, whose unique style sees him focus on creating future relics with a process of crystallisation, is exhibiting some of the most exciting pieces ahead of Paris Fashion Week. It wasn’t just the art that attendees were focusing on, however, as members of the Christian Dior team debuted the upcoming Air Dior x Jordan 1 Low for the first time.

After the initial announcement and debut of the Dior x Air Jordan 1 High sneaker back in December last year, sneakerheads and fashion fans around the world were bowled over by the official images of the shoe. Around the same time, rumours began to circulate that a much rarer Dior x Air Jordan 1 Low would also be released, but there was no official announcement from either Nike or Dior. Well, it looks as though that announcement came on Saturday night, thanks to Daniel Arsham’s exhibition.

Kim Jones, Creative Director of Dior Homme and Thibo Denis, Senior Shoe Designer of Christian Dior Couture and Dior Homme, debuted the upcoming luxury sneaker. Taking the same design as the Air Dior High sneaker, the low version is a streamlined version of its bigger brother. The same colour palette of white/Dior Grey has been applied, with the iconic Dior Oblique motif making its way to the Swoosh.

This same oblique can be found throughout the tongue, with the “DIOR AIR” tongue tag sitting at the top of the shoe. Of course, the familiar Wings logo has not been forgotten. The Air Dior logo can be found on the heel of the shoe, with Dior x Nike applying the same Dior logos underneath a translucent sole.

However, chances of owning a pair of the Dior x Air Jordan 1 Lows will be even smaller. 8,500 pairs of the Dior x Air Jordan 1 High will be produced, with the figure honouring the launch of the Air Jordan 1. A rumoured 4,700 pairs of the low top version are to be released, a number that pays homage to Christian Dior’s new look which came in 1947.

Whatever the numbers, the upcoming Dior x Air Jordan collaboration is arguably going to be the drop of the year. Good luck trying to cop.
