One of Chicago’s most prominent figures in streetwear is Don C. His Just Don label has become a fan favourite of rappers, sports stars and hypebeasts all over the world. If that was not enough, the Chicago native has also had the opportunity to work with both Nike and Jordan Brand. Don C is now working with the Swoosh once again to drop an Air Force 1 that is a tribute to his home city.
The model in question is a combination of the Nike Air Force 1, Air Force 2 and Air Force 3. Of course, this is not the first time that Don C has had the opportunity to work on Bruce Kilgore’s iconic Nike silhouette. Fans of the creative will remember his 2017 Air Force collaboration that used the same mash-up of Air Force; though it was thought to be just a one-off for the 35th anniversary of the shoe.
Thanks to Don C‘s wife, the very talented Kristen Noel Crawley, we have a closer look at the upcoming sneaker that pays tribute to Chi-Town. The distinct panelling and hybrid Air Force design is easily visible here, with the design elements working really well together. A bright blue leather upper is the first detail that catches the eye, also reminiscent of the Don C x Air Jordan 2.
Red details help to break the blue upper down into a much more manageable sneaker. On the heel, a Just Don Swoosh is embroidered, with the midsole using the same rouge tint to the “AIR” branding. The most luxurious part of this sneaker, however, lies within. A satin liner is seen, with an embossed Chicago flag underneath the tongue. Custom lace dubraes with the words “Just” and “Don” adding to the collaboration nicely.
Early reports suggest that the Don C x Nike Air Force 1 “Chicago” will release on February 15th for the NBA All-Star Weekend.
