One sneaker that has dominated the landscape this last year was undoubtedly the New Balance 550. And now, following last years’ select preorders, the high top variant is launching in the form of the New Balance x Aimé Leon Dore 650R.
Much of the hype for the low top came from the previous collab on the NB x ALD 550s, reintroducing sneakerheads to New Balance’s basketball staple. The excitement for these shoes doesn’t seem to be stopping, with additional ALD colourways dropping later this year. But now onto the 650Rs, these high tops present many of the beloved features of the New York brand’s spin on the 550, premium leather uppers, subtle branding, and an overall vintage feel. The key difference here is the high top, made chiefly from padded nylon around the ankle.
The New Balance x Aimé Leon Dore 650Rs retail for €180 and come in 4 colourways, “Grey”, “Green”,”‘Red”, and “Navy”. These colours accent the shoe’s upper, outsole, the suede “N” branding on the sides and ALD branding on the heel and tongue tag.
