After much anticipation and speculation, we’ve finally got a release date for the upcoming adidas x Gucci collaboration. following its debut on the FW22 “Exquisite Gucci” runway show, the collection will be dropping this June. Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele has released a 60-page lookbook for the upcoming release.
The two fashion giants come together to form a pastiche of retro European sportswear. The collab is drawn from Michele’s love of geek chic and 80s aesthetics and inspired by his research into adidas’ catalogues. The campaign features models posed against bold colourful backdrops, decked out in everything from tracksuits and tennis shorts, to jackets and dresses. As you’d expect, the pieces are adorned with blends of adidas’ Trefoil and three stripes with Gucci’s green and red branding.
One of the most eye-catching pieces from the collection is Gucci’s elevated take on the terrace classic, the adidas Gazelle. No surprise since Michele himself is an avid collector. Here the Gazelle is rendered in a number of styles, including white Italian leather with red and navy accents, or gold coloured canvas with the iconic “GG” motif across the upper. Similarly, adidas’ three stripes can also be seen gracing Gucci’s iconic loafers.
The adidas x Gucci collection drops on 7th June via Gucci’s site a number of their stores, and on the adidas CONFIRMED app. For more news on upcoming releases stay tuned to KLEKTIVE, and head over to KLEKT to check out previous drops from adidas and Gucci.
