In the world of sneakers, there are some models that transcend just being a shoe. Released in 1970, the adidas Superstar has gone on to become a cultural icon. Made famous by Run DMC, the adidas Superstar has become a piece of history. Turning 50 this year, adidas has been releasing a string of collaborations to celebrate. The likes of Prada, 424 and Mark Gonzales have all put their spin on the classic sneaker. Now, adidas is icing out the Superstar using Swarovski Crystals.
Taking the classic black and white colourway of the Superstar, adidas has covered the sneaker in crystals. White leather is contrasted by small black and silver Swarovski crystals on the stripes, heel tab and tongue tab. The simple elevation turns the Superstar from a basic shoe into a premium one instantly. A custom lace dubrae reads “With Swarovski Crystals”, replacing the traditional adidas Trefoil. This is a fitting tribute to the iconic sneaker.
If you’re looking to get your hands on these, you may just have to wait a little longer. The adidas Superstar with Swarovski Crystals will be launching in the coming weeks. No retail price has yet been revealed, but given the cost of the Nike Air Max 97 with Swarovski Crystals, you can expect these to be a little expensive. Check out the official images below and let us know if you’ll cop these Superstars.
