The world is currently in a state of limbo. Over the past six months, coronavirus has gone from a brief snippet on the news to affect almost every country on the planet. The COVID-19 pandemic will certainly be remembered by all. In that time, however, there’s been a sense of community spirit that’s swept the globe. We’ve seen businesses, countries and people come together in inspiring ways. Whether it’s been through raising money for charity or staying at home, the sense of global solidarity has never been stronger.
Sneakerheads everywhere have come together, showcasing the deeper meaning behind their shared love. Flexing in quarantine has become a genuine thing, with footwear fanatics showing off their latest purchases from home. The days of nipping out to take a sneaker shot feel all but forgotten, yet somehow that problem feels all but insignificant in the current climate. It’s not all doom and gloom, remember.
Here at KLEKT, we wanted to show you just how sneakerheads are keeping busy during the lockdown. We’ll be showing you how our fellow footwear family members are coming together. With so much great content to get through, let’s get started.
Team KLEKT’s Quarantine Challenge
Kicking things off in style, the Team KLEKT family wanted to highlight how important it is to stay at home. The guys put together a unique and interactive video that had you guys gripped from start to finish. We’re proud to remind you guys the importance of staying at home and when the video is this good, it makes it just that little bit better.
Crep Protect ‘s Spray at Home Challenge
Our friends over at Crep Protect put together a challenge you could do from the comfort of your own front room. The Spray at Home challenge got sneakerheads to protect their footwear at tag Crep Protect. So far, there’s been some good results, with the brand highlighting the importance of protecting your health and your sneakers.
Showing Off the Essentials
With 2020 being one of the strangest years on record, people sneakerheads have shown us how they’re getting through quarantine. As many countries are placed under lockdown, and limits on how much time they’re getting outside, it’s been fun to see how people are equipped. One of our favourite posts came from Team KLEKT member, @hypetobs.
Investing in House Shoes
Let’s face it, we’ve all got a lot more time at home than we normally do. With Kanye West dropping his Yeezy Slides last month, the sneaker community has been hard at work showing them off. Of course, that’s not the only slider people have been showing off. Everything from Supreme and BAPE has been featured too. There’s never been a better time to invest in slides, its a fact.
#StayAtHome Sneaker Spelling
The world of sneakers is a global community. It attracts people from every corner of the globe, leaving many of us feeling a sense of pride about being just a small part of it. With the current COVID-19 pandemic seemingly taking over every aspect of our daily lives, sneakerheads are getting creative. The #StayAtHome challenge has seen sneakerheads show off their grails but spell out the important reminder. This has been one of our favourites, for sure.
Watching The Last Dance
Michael Jordan’s Netflix documentary has taken the whole world by storm. The series, which follows Jordan’s rise from rookie to NBA legend has been one of the best ways for sneakerheads to forget about coronavirus. Of course, the memes, content and collection of Jordans we have seen in the process has certainly taken our mind off of things. With a few more episodes left, there’s gonna be some great sneakers to come.
Supported Charity
Brands everywhere have been doing their bit to battle COVID-19. Whether it’s been manufacturing or donating equipment or making special products and donating the proceeds to charity, a lot is being done. Of course, that also means that streetwear fans have been able to get their hands on some of those items. In the process, they’ve been helping charities and those the most affected by COVID-19s effects.
Cleaned Their Sneakers
There’s never been a better time to get your sneakers cleaned. We’ve seen people get their wardrobes in check and dig out their ultimate grails to give them a good clean. It’s been great to see people really put the effort in, giving some of their kicks a well-deserved scrub.
Remained Positive
It’s been a tough few months, there’s no doubt about it. The world has been on lockdown, with some countries in Europe amongst the worst affected. Yet, through it all, there has been an air of understanding that this won’t last forever. The community has rallied together, spreading messages of positivity throughout the world. For that, we want to say thank you.
Final Thoughts
From everyone here at KLEKT, we want to say thank you. Thank you for staying positive. Thank you for staying at home. And most importantly, thank you for being a part of this community.
